Restoring without Dr.Web Server Backup

Restoring Dr.Web Server after a failure if no backup had been saved

1.Select a computer to install the new Dr.Web Server. You can restore the connection to the server either on the same computer (with the same address) or on another computer (by changing the address for connecting to Dr.Web Server in the settings of Dr.Web Agents).
To be able to perform initial settings of Dr.Web Server and anti-virus network before connecting Dr.Web Agents, isolate this computer from the online Dr.Web Agents: temporarily change the port to a port other than the default port 2193 (you can change it back to the default later). After the initial setup, test the connection to Dr.Web Server using one or two Dr.Web Agents as an example.
It is possible to restore Dr.Web Server to the same computer (with the same address) or to another computer by changing the server connection address in the Dr.Web Agents settings.

2.Install the new Dr.Web Server.

3.In the Administration → License manager section, add the license key from the previous Dr.Web Server installation and propagate it to the corresponding groups, particularly to the Everyone group. This step is mandatory if the license key was not set during the Dr.Web Server installation.

4.Update the repository of the installed Dr.Web Server from the GUS:

a)Open the Administration → Repository state section of the Control Center.

b)Click the Check for updates button to make sure if updates for all products are available on the GUS servers and download them, if necessary.

5.If newer versions of the Dr.Web Server software are available, upgrade to the latest versions:

a)Open Administration → Dr.Web Server section of the Control Center.

b)To open the Dr.Web Server version list, click on the current version of Dr.Web Server or click the List of versions button. This will open the Dr.Web Server Updates section with the list of available Dr.Web Server updates and backups.

c)To update the Dr.Web Server software, set the flag next to the latest version in the All versions list. Click Save.

d)Wait for the Dr.Web Server update process to complete.

6.Change the station connection settings in the Dr.Web Server configuration:

a)Open Administration → Dr.Web Server configuration.

b)On the General tab, set the Reset unauthorized to newbie flag.

c)On the General tab in the Newbies registration mode drop-down list, select Allow access automatically.

d)Click Save and restart Dr.Web Server.

7.In the Anti-virus Network section of the Control Center, create user groups in the anti-virus network tree in the same way as in the previous version. If necessary, create automatic membership rules for stations in the created user groups.

8.If necessary, specify the Dr.Web Agent settings and the Dr.Web Server settings (except for the temporary settings from step 5) similarly to the previous version.

9.If necessary, change the repository settings in the Administration → Detailed repository configuration section.

10.Restore the access to Dr.Web Server for Dr.Web Agents according to the Dr.Web Server isolation method selected in step 1.

11.Replace the certificate on all stations of the network that will be connected to the new Dr.Web Server. You can download the certificate in the Administration → Encryption keys section.

If the self-protection is enabled, copy the certificate created during the new Dr.Web Server installation to a station and run the following command:

%ProgramFiles%\DrWeb\es-service.exe -c <certificate>

or

%ProgramFiles%\DrWeb\es-service.exe --addcert=<certificate>

Substitute the <certificate> with the path to the server certificate copied to the station.

As a result, the certificate will be copied to the Dr.Web Agent installation folder. By default, it is the %ProgramFiles%\DrWeb folder (for more details, see the Appendix G2. Dr.Web Agent for Windows).

If the self-protection is disabled on a station, you can take the certificate created during the installation of the new Dr.Web Server and place it in the folder specified above.

12.If you restored connection to Dr.Web Server on another computer, change the address for connecting to the server in the Dr.Web Agents settings.

info

To perform the actions directly on the station, you must have administrative privileges on the station and, if you want to edit the configuration via the Dr.Web Agent interface, permission to edit Dr.Web Agent properties, which is granted on Dr.Web Server (section Anti-virus NetworkConfigurationPermissionsGeneral tab → Change Dr.Web Agent configuration). If you do not have these permissions, you can reconnect to another Dr.Web Server locally on the station only after removing the installed Dr.Web Agent via the Control Center and installing Dr.Web Agent again with the new Dr.Web Server settings.

It is recommended that you use the name of Dr.Web Server in the FQDN format as the Dr.Web Server address.

13.After all stations have been successfully connected to the new Dr.Web Server, change the Dr.Web Server settings specified in step 6 to the settings adopted by your company policy.
