Remote Installation Troubleshooting

Principle of installation:

1.Dr.Web Server connects to the ADMIN$ resource on the remote station (\\<remote_station>\ADMIN$\Temp) and copies the network installer drwinst.exe that is located in the webmin\install\windows folder of the Dr.Web Server installation folder and SSL certificate drwcsd-certificate.pem located in the etc folder of the Dr.Web Server installation directory, to the \\<remote_station>\ADMIN$\Temp folder.

2.Dr.Web Server runs the drwinst.exe file on the remote station with the command line switches according to the Control Center settings.

Successful installation requires the following to be available to Dr.Web Server from which the installation is performed:

1.The ADMIN$\Temp resource must be available on the remote station.

The availability can be checked as follows:

In the address bar of Windows Explorer enter the following:

\\<remote_station>\ADMIN$\Temp

You will be prompted to enter the login and password to assess this resource. Enter the account information provided on the installation page.

The ADMIN$\Temp resource may be unavailable for the following reasons:

a)the account does not have administrative privileges;

b)the station is turned off or the firewall blocks access to port 455;

c)the access to the ADMIN$\Temp resource may be limited on Windows Vista and later operating systems, if the station is outside a domain;

d)the folder owner is not specified or the user or group has insufficient permissions to access the folder.

2.The drwinst.exe file and the *.pub public encryption key must be available.

Dr.Web Security Control Center displays detailed information (step and error code), that can help to diagnose the cause of the error.
